Understanding the market and who is currently hiring

You may have seen the news about the newly released American jobs report: U.S. employers added 916,000 jobs in March, the best gain since August. With changes on the horizon as the economy begins to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever to understand the way the market is responding and how that is affecting companies’ businesses, and by design, their talent management and hiring processes.

Reading the Wall Street Journal daily (if you don’t already) will ensure you know about the latest trends and forecasts for the industries that will thrive following this unprecedented time.  (Remember, as a WPC student, you have free digital access to The Wall Street Journal.)

If you study the market and the changes happening in business, you’ll be able to think critically about how industries are affected by current events and build a successful job strategy based on where the increased demand is happening and what skills you have that can help add value to their business operations.
