Are you choosing a major aligned with your career aspirations?

Committing to a major is an important step towards choosing a career, but they are not one in the same. Choosing a major is a decision on what your academic path is going to look like during your time at ASU. It lays a foundation for the skills and knowledge you can take into your career, but it does not define your precise career path.

There are many roles, functions, and paths you can pursue within each major, so it is important to gain an understanding of how your academic journey can translate to a career later on, before you invest time, money and energy pursuing it.

When deciding on your major, thinking about what you will enjoy studying, your interests and passions, and having an understanding of what you want to do can set you up for success in the transition from college to career. Students who take time to investigate what different majors can offer them, talk to peers about what they have identified, and reflect on what they are looking for in their future are able to efficiently and confidently pursue their chosen major and the career work that supports it.

Below are links to helpful resources you can use as you make the decision to commit to a major. Take some time now to explore these resources and meet with your coach and academic advisor to discuss.
