Paramedics bring a unique perspective to the care with their experience in interacting with and caring for the patients in the pre-hospital environment. Salary Range: $18-$30/hrThe paramedic will lead or assist the EMS staff and physician in providing patient care for Melissa Memorial Hospital in the pre-hospital, emergency department or other hospital setting. Patient care will be a collaborative effort between the paramedics, EMTs and other staff. The paramedic, under the direction of the Medical Director and Emergency Services Director, is responsible for safely and effectively providing high quality advanced life-support including assessment, triage, treatment as well as technical procedures to all ED patients. Common duties include but are not limited to: airway management, interpreting and monitoring 12-lead EKGs, initiating IV access, collecting blood samples, administering medication, hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, urinary catheter insertion, nasogastric and oral gastric tube placement, IO placement, patient assessment and history gathering. The ED paramedic will be afforded all allowable acts pursuant to Chapter 2 of Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division Regulation: 6 CCR 1015 – 3.While working, the paramedic shall continue to practice under the license of the Emergency Services Medical Director and adhere to an identified scope of practice as well as all regulations, policies, protocols, and standards. He/she will be an integral part of the resuscitation team, trauma team, and critical care transport team. The paramedic will also provide advanced life-support care during inter-facility transfers from Melissa Memorial Hospital to appropriate tertiary care facilities.
