Do you have a passion for Supply Chain? Associates participating in BD’s Supply Chain Development Program will establish a solid supply chain foundation after the completion of various projects in the core rotations of Order Fulfillment, North America Transportation, Distribution, Supply Chain Relations, and Continuous Improvement.
Associates are expected to participate and lead projects that drive positive business outcomes while also building an understanding of key processes, systems, and analytics specific to each area. Every associate entering the program will obtain their Lean Six Sigma Certification in their first year!
Rotations (duration of rotations may vary)
The rotation with the Order Fulfillment team will cover E-Business and/or Order Fulfillment business process improvement. The associate will be responsible for managing our electronic transmissions with our business partners and drive process improvements in the Order Fulfillment function. Potential for travel to the North America Shared Service Center in San Antonio, TX.
Projects on the North America Transportation team are focused on managing our carrier base and improving efficiencies and service levels. The associate will be exposed to transportation operations and learn process & data flows between SAP/TMS. Associates will so learn carrier routings and services as well as operational requirements, constraints and supporting analytics.
Distribution Operations & Compliance:
Projects on Distribution Operations team will consist of initiatives focused on warehouse specific activities and the corporate management of a multiple Distribution Center network. Associates will gain exposure to DC Operations and understand data, physical and process flows, analytics, systems, operational requirements and constraints. Opportunity to travel to multiple Distribution Centers within the US.
Supply Chain Relations:
The Supply Chain Relations team projects will provide an in-depth view of our key customer networks supporting different Channel Partners and supply chain models. Associates will have the opportunity to work on strategic initiatives that are mutually beneficial to BD and our customers.
As part of the North America Continuous Improvement team, associates will be expected to apply the previous 18-20 months of learning, to drive cost savings and efficiency gains across the organization. Associates will build capabilities in running mapping sessions, Kaizen events, problem solving, and building management systems by leveraging continuous improvement and LEAN methodologies and tools.
Adjustments to this rotation program are subject to change based on business need.
- Collect, check for accuracy, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data from internal and external sources; analyze performance trends; perform diagnostics to identify potential causes of performance deterioration or improvement; identify potential corrective actions and improvement opportunities
- Develop project management skills by participating on projects to learn best-practices with the goal of being able to lead projects independently
- Participate in periodic conference calls with external parties like key channel partners, carriers and vendors to review performance and provide recommendations for opportunities for improvement
- Special project work as assigned
- BA/BS degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management or Engineering
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Open to relocation
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction as to duration.
- Prior internship/co-op experience in Supply Chain
- Experience in SAP or JDE ERP systems
