Business Overview | The Corporate Model Risk Group (CMoR) serves as the second line of defense to ensure the integrity of Wells Fargo’s model inventory. CMoR does this by independently overseeing the management of model risk exposures (including monitoring design or coding errors and appropriate model usage) and the quality of model development and validation practices across the company. This oversight extends throughout the end-to-end model lifecycle including model identification, risk ranking, development, validation, implementation, usage, and monitoring. Program Overview | The Quantitative Internship Program is a professional development program that provides participants with a ten-week overview of Wells Fargo’s company operations, business strategies, and prepare them to develop or validate various quantitative models. The internship experience includes opportunity to apply their skills in loss and revenue forecasting, credit decisions, fraud detection, fair lending, operational risk and stress testing. The program is designed to provide graduate students with a blend of business and professional developmental training opportunities that incorporates real-world experiences and prepares you for a career at Wells Fargo. The internship program is a pipeline program where successful interns will receive an offer to return the following year for the full-time analyst or fellow program.
The Capital Markets track deals with mathematical models for pricing, hedging and risking complex financial instruments. Wells Fargo trading portfolios include products in all traded asset classes such as credit, commodity, Equity, FX, Rate, Mortgages, and Asset-Backed Finance.
The Risk Analytics and Decision Science track deals with statistical, econometric, and machine learning models for a variety of applications, including loss and revenue forecasting, credit decisions, financial crimes, fair lending, operational risks, and analysis of unstructured data such as text and audio.
Responsibilities may include:
· Performing core mathematical, statistical, and machine learning model development and validation
· Participating in model risk projects and supporting development of methodologies and algorithms
· Recommending innovative techniques to ensure Wells Fargo maintains “best in class” practice
· Documenting the results of the internship projects and giving final presentations.
Program dates for 2022: June 6 – August 12
Program Locations for 2022: Charlotte, NC
· Master’s or PhD candidate with an expected graduation in December, 2022 – May/June 2023
· Excellent computer programing skills and experience with statistical or mathematical computing packages such as C++, Python, R, SAS and SQL
· Proven verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills
· Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and complex environment
· Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability
