How to prepare for the LSAT!

The LSAT score and GPA are the two most important criteria for Law school admission. The higher they are, the better chance  you have  to be accepted.  Preparing for the test is challenging, requiring study resources, registration, time management, and commitment. So, how can you score high on the LSAT?

Consider studying for a period of 2 to 6 months, depending on the number of hours you will be able to study daily. There are three primary ways of preparing:

  1. Registering through a school or organization for group or individual classes such as Kaplan, Princeton, or Varsity
  2. Self-preparation with online resources like Khan-Academy, Magoosh, or those on the official LSAT site
  3. Working by the book with PowerScore, LSAT Bible Trilogy, On line 7 Sage, The Trainer, or Blueprint.

Since there are so many resources available–you’ll need to identify what will work best for you! Once you identify a test date you’ll be ready for, register in advance to secure your spot– there are a limited number of testing spaces available per test date. Note that you can register to take  the exam at the ASU Tempe campus, and your test score will arrive in 3-4 weeks. Choose your testing date carefully to ensure you’ll receive your results prior to the application closing at the schools to which you are applying.

Remember that the LSAT score is a heavily weighted component of your application, so you will need to put as much effort into doing well as possible. If you have questions, take a look at the following resources, and consider scheduling an appointment with your Career Coach.
