Set goals and get the most out of your internship!

If you have been offered an internship, you might be wondering how to make the most of your experience. Being intentional when setting goals will set you up for success. Here are some steps for setting effective goals in order to maximize your Internship:

  • Develop a clear understanding of your internship. Talk to your supervisor about your responsibilities, projects, and objectives. This will allow you to make the most out of the opportunities available to you.
  • Reflect on the skills and experiences you already bring to the table, then evaluate where you see room for growth and learning. Consider both technical and soft skills you want to improve.
  • Set measurable goals and align them with your desired outcomes. What specifically are you hoping to take away when you finish? Will you learn what you need to in order to make decisions about the role and industry you are pursuing?
  • Seek guidance and feedback from your mentors. Have conversations about your goals and ask for insight on your progress. Consider setting weekly milestones to stay on track. Allow yourself room to adjust if necessary and celebrate your achievements along the way.
